I know this is the best way to get flamed - I am going to post an accurate but true news item on Bali that in true BTF form will set me in a blaze

I was a regular visitor and go 3 or 4 times a year but this has now dropped down to maybe once (Going tomoz) but I have been getting annoyed with the increasing costs with other Asian destinations are now visited.

It looks like most of the good value eateries in Bali have gone and now in stead concentrating on selling ‘International' food at prices you can get at home.

Add this to the increasing costs of doing anything which of course is always quoted in US$, the VOA and now hotel costs as outlined in the below cut and paste and other destinations are becoming so much better as far as price, relaxation and ambiance is concerned.

The only real remaining advantage is that Bali is the 3 ½ hours flight.

Come on Bali, make it worth while again

From Perth today 10/03/2016

‘'THE cheapest overseas holiday destination for Australians is not Bali but Pattaya in Thailand, where hotels cost an average $50 a night less than the Indonesian island.

The 2015 Hotels.com price index shows the average rate Aussies paid in Pattaya was $72 a night down six per cent on the previous year.

Hotel rates in Bali also fell thanks to fierce competition, with Australian holiday-makers shelling out an average $123 a night.

Apart from Pattaya, seven other destinations including Chiang Mai in Thailand, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Cebu and Manila in the Philippines also provided luxury accommodation for under $100 a night.'
