Low income people going to Bali1

Whatever next! There should be an income test before tickets are issued! How dare they think they can travel along with those of us of middle and high income! Perhaps we should tell "them" that every day is Nyepi and that they must stay in their hotel which would be the Bounty.....

This is how I see it. Tourist numbers are increasing in EVERY demographic in Bali. I believe, although there may be more yobbos behaving badly, (and I don't condone this) the actual percentage of total is most likely not a lot different.

As for low airfares bringing in "undesirable types". This is really drawing a long bow and wishing fares would go up again to stop "them" is so far from Australia's egalitarian past (tell me it's not past) that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth!

You only (as with most bad behaviour) only see the noisy minority! I'd like to say "Hi" to Brendan Fevola here (not typical of every footy player I would think). It does not mean that all nor even close to most, people who would, in less judgemental days, have been known as "battlers" behave in a noisy offensive way. I believe I have some experience to bring to the subject since we used to have a couple of cabs and I often drove in lower socio-economic areas picking up shoppers etc. I rarely met a badly behaved person so I absolutely know that some of the brush strokes been used on here are very broad indeed.

In the past two years I have encountered a colts footy team from a very well known and well heeled Western Suburb of Perth and a group of ex students from a very well known Melbourne private school who were behaving beyond badly. Let's just say the behaviour included broken glass, penises, public urination rowdy carryings on and abuse of Indonesian staff. Oh yes there were a few anuses too. You get the picture.

Please! Comment on the behaviour if you like but don't tar everyone who could not go to Bali but for cheap airfares with the same brush. If people who otherwise could not travel outside Australia, and probably not within Australia, can now travel to Bali the majority of them will just bring an experience to their kids which can only broaden their horizons. There will be a noisy few. Sad but true but please let's not pray for a return to high price airfares which would keep out (as the politicians like to say) "ordinary Mum and Dad Australians" as well as a troublesome few and do nothing to address school leavers or footy teams from the wealthy suburbs. (You just don't see the silent majority who do nothing to draw attention to themselves)

Its....it's.....It's un Orstrayian init?

OK well it is Sunday and I do love a good rant and the chance to use lots and lots of brackets.
