for years (me only from the mid 80,s) know there is no real change in peoples behavior when going to Bali or "in" Bali regardless of cheap flights!
Garuda cabin staff pointing out to the Sterne immigration officials at passport control those in line who were unruly and drunk on the flight so they could be pulled to one side and threatened with immediate return(always worked and sobered them up quick smart)
on one Garuda flight home to Perth the cabin crew had to pile all the food and drink scraps and rubbish in the toilets because they couldn't get the trolleys past the drunks sitting in the isles swilling there duty free booze.
I have found people over the years have started dressing better for the flight,it used to be stubbies thongs and singlet there and back no matter how cold it was at home.
Nusa Dua guests in first class Kuta rabble in steerage lol
Swerving the Jimmny side to side at speed to knock the very "polite" Balinese kids and local fruit sellers off the car after you stopped in a village anywhere or they would have ended up in the next village with you still tugging you shirt and insisting you buy. :) :)
Buildings have grown, traffic and tourist numbers increased same as everywhere else in the world.
I am not sure which Bali i seem to have missed out on between then and now that so many are yearning the return of?
