Bali- has it got expensive?

I thought I would never say this about Bali but trying to research some accom for May 2010 has seen a dramatic rise is prices. We were last year in October 2007 and I am getting quotes of 40% above what we paid then and we are now in a global recession???? I am even finding myself arguing with the hotels over how many people can fit in the room. We are a family of 4 with 2 small children - it didn't seem an issue in 2007 so why is it an issue now? I hope Bali isn't getting greedy. All properties are telling me that another price rise will occur on November.
Has anyone got any good stories on La Taverna and Kumula Pantai? I don't know prices for these properties yet but if it's worth asking I will try.
