Just wanted to let all know that Blue Bird Taxi's are owned by rich people in Jakarta and 99% of the money earned goes there. I was really surprised to find out this as we always used them as a preference, as they have BALI TAXI on the sides of their cars. The other blue taxi's, which are spelt TAKSI, are operated and mostly owned by Balinese and the money stays here. Just thought I would let everyone know, whoever you use is fine but we prefer the money to stay here. We used a Balinese chap for a full day and he only asked for 250.000rp, very cheap, we bought him lunch, IBU OKA yum, and gave him extra. We went to Tegallalang and the new handicraft shop like Geneva, UNAGI, spelt right I hope. Similar to Geneva but lots more to choose from. It's on the same st as the jail.
We are off to Makassar, Sulawesi, in the morning for a friends wedding, will be there for 3 days, they are marrying in a Mosque so will be very different for us to see, we are going to wear traditional dress, so will not look too out of place I hope, haha.
Un's lovely food, also Alley Cats and T J's, will write a JBR much later, we have 2 more weeks here yet, yipeeeee !
Sorry we can't answer any questions for a few days but will post more later with all news and can answer then.
Cheers
Maureen
