Hi, sorry I've taken a while to get back on this forum and write my promised JBR.
Well, as some of you might remember, we stayed at the dynasty which later on we called the DIE NASTY.
I'll try to put it in point form I guess.
• Flew from Sydney with Garuda and because the boyfriend is tall, we were placed in the exit row seats! So annoying because they couldn't recline. We arrived on time into Bali. But the only complaint about the flight is the food was cold and the stupid movie didn't work. I don't even remember what was supposed to be on anyway.
• Oh Garuda needs to train their staff better I think, with people having laptops still running and mobile phones turned on when landing. From what I know, all electronic equipment is supposed to be turned off. Typical Indonesia I hear.!!!
• Anyway, we get out of plane and everyone was rushing down to the VOA desk, we paid in Aussie for this and it was ok, fine and dandy, the same also at immigration desk. We grabbed our own luggage and found our pick up transport straight away. There were the smells of Bali that everyone talks about. Opps I think our driver stood in dog poop!! (true story)
• Dynasty was OK. The staff seemed very unfriendly. (maybe it was us? ) But we are sure their breakfast buffet made my partner sick, or it was the dinner we had the night before at Indo National (another forum recommendation). One or the other!!! So after this on day 2 we called it the Die Nasty!! I really don't remember how many rolls of toilet paper my partner went thru. The poor baby!!
• Oh the mozzies in the room were terrible!! My legs had all pink bites over them and looked gross!!
• We did have some good times though, we visited, Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, Ubud/Moneky forrest and I think some lake area, I cant remember the bloody name!! So got to see a bit of the country side, instead of the toilet bowl!
• I wonder why people ramble on about the poverty in Bali, the Kuta area and some other places, had so many overweight Indonesians. Geez what are they eating? Maybe they should get rid of Macca's and all that fried food they eat over there. So much oil used in everything!!
• We did some shopping, I think we got ripped off most of the time, fair enough they need money, but geez we are on a budget also. It really bugs me how they think all tourists are really rich and can afford everything and anything.
• Oh speaking of shopping, while walking around I nearly fell down a hole, they need to work on their footpaths Its so dangerous! And the traffic, geez its dicing with death everyday. It's a wonder they don't have more accidents than reported, or they probably do, but don't want the tourists to hear about it..
• Anyway, we spent lots of time lazing by the pool and sipping a few cocktails as well. Oh yeh thanks guys for the hint on where to buy condoms (...) It came in handy *wink wink*
• So finally the time to pack up and leave, in a way a little sad but couldn't wait to get home either. We had better seats on the flight home this time. Flight left on time and arrived in Sydney in one piece.
• Would I go again, I don't know, to be honest we think Bali is very over rated, cant get over what the excitement is about? Yeh yeh temples, culture, food, cheap stuff, but you can get it in a lot of other countries as well. Bali certainly isn't the place its raved to be.
