I often wonder what new comers to Bali think. This year I took my 2 sister inlaws who have not been to Bali before. They were really keen to see why my husband and I have been every year since 1976. What a disaster.
As soon as we got off the plane one of them commented on the sewage smell. She then got Bali Belly (so did the rest of us) from eating at a well known buffet.
She hated the walk from the hotel in Tuban to Matahari - I think she thought that the footpath was not that strong and she wld end up falling in one of the holes and into the sewage. To top it off she stood on a syringe on Kuta Beach. She ended up on the first available flight home. My second sister in law stayed the whole 10 days but will not go back.
I always say to people it is a place that you either love or hate.
