As a customs broker here in Australia i'm taking this time to warn people of the costs and hassle when picking up a bargain and wanting to ship it to Australia. Be aware of the costs involvled in Australia with regards to the local port and handling charges. For example a statue worth AUD 50.00 in Bali will end up costing atleast $300-400 in import charges then customs clearing and AQIS charges on top could end up costing you $700.00 for a bargain you picked up for $50.00.
Simple answer just DONT BUY it. Go on your holiday enjoy yourself and dont worry about saving a few bob as you will get hit hard when your goods arrive it. If it wont fit in your suitcase dont buy it. I deal with this everyday and 1st time importers are surprised with the hassles involved and costs and they swaer they'd never do It again and I agree.
I wont leave my details as I dont want your work.
