It is true but you need to decide whether or not you feel it is worth it. We bought a stunning gazebo in Bali for aud$1000 the problem was the unforeseen costs here in Australia it cost us $3500 to ship and clear through customs here. I was shocked at the time, but looking back I would do it again in a heartbeat as you will never get the same authentic quality here in Australia.
I guess the lesson is purchase wisely, don't purchase random crap that everyone is bringing back and selling here, but if you find that special gem that you just can't live without then buy buy buy!!!!
