Hi just came back from fantastic 2 week holiday in Bali but want to warn others about problem at ATM in Circle K in Poppies 2. Used it yesterday to withdraw 800,000RP, just as money was about to come out ATM shut down. My card came out but no money, I waited for ages but nothing happened, so went to internet to check bank and sure enough the money has been deducted from my account. Same thing happened to me last year only that time it was 3 million rupiah, same ATM. I rang my bank, they told me to ring the bank that was displayed on the machine. I rang and was told that I would have to come into their head office in Jakarta, when I explained I was in Bali was basically told "Not my problem". I asked what else I could do and was told that it was my word against the banks i.e that I would have to prove that I did not receive the money. I thought the first time this happened I was just really unlucky but now this has cost me $500 all up, I prefer using the ATM's in the mini marts as being inside and travelling mostly on my own don't like to use the secluded ones or ones in booths, paranoid about skimming etc. Thinking that I will just take cash from now on. What I am interested to know is if this has happened to anyone else or have I just been incredibly unlucky? Very frustrating to save all year on a tight budget and then lose money like that and not be able to do anyhting about it. Same thing happened to my sister in Australia and the bank re-imbursed her as it showed up when they did the ATM reconciliations but obviously things work differently in Indonesia! I have used that ATM many times without problems but twice in a year now, will definitely not be using it again!
