Definately join the Accor club... but stay somewhere different to the Sofitel.
I am literally staying at the Sofitel at the moment and I have to say im far from impressed.
Distinct lack of customer service and your Accor membership means nothing whilst actually at the hotel, no upgrades, no late check out, no flexibility.
The Mercure in Kuta and Novotels in Benoa and Nusa Dua are far better choices... Benoa pool villa is my choice...
Joining the Accor club is about $275 from memory...
Also the Bintang supermarket is close enough but the hotel will provide you with as many bottles of water as you need.
