He had chest pains so grabbed a taxi to BIMC.
After doing the admission stuff he was put on a drip & blood was taken. The specialist examined him with a stethoscope (about 1 minute) at a cost of 1.4 million rupiah & said 'I'll be back in the morning'.More blood samples taken so staff could monitor progress.
Next morning the specialist returned for a 950,000 rupiah visit. In the afternoon no sensible opinion had been given regarding the problem so he asked to see the bill to that time. This was the shock!14.5 million rupiah for a day,450,000/blood test,4,500 for 2 panadol. He said that he was checking out but staff insisted he stay for 2 more days because he would need medivac if he returned to Australia as it was not possible to fly by airliner in his condition. He said the amount already paid would cover 2 adults & 1 child to Aus.
Anyhow the 'shock treatment' worked wonders. He was out of there & having a coldie within 1/2 an hour.
