Returned from a 10 day stay on Tuesday 14th July. Stayed at the Kuta Lagoon. Top little spot. Poolside Access Rooms are great. If you can't secure these then the Villas are even better as they have their own plunge-pool. Staff were lovely and low-key but very attentive when needed. Always leave 20 000RP daily on the end of your bed for housekeeping and watch them fight each other to make-up your room first off the list.Likewise room service and I guarantee you'll be greeted with a big smile everytime you pass them in the corridor. Breakfast wasn't bad but alittle short on range. Honestly didn't try the Hotel for lunch or Dinner....so can't comment. Brilliant, and SUPER cheap Laundry across road. 25 000RP for a suitcase full returned in 24 hrs.
Restaraunts:

SHEPPY'S: Cheap, cheerful and simple. Aussie hosts will make you feel at ease. Standard Western menu with a little local options.Great spot to sip on a refreshment while Ibu shops across the road.

GOSHA: Looks good, but meals were a little disappointing. Lots of garnish and cocktail fluff but a little overpiced for similar menus nearby. Staff almost too friendly.

INDO-NATIONAL: (forgive me, recent BTF posters,I know some of you have had recent bad experiences here) Always popular with Aussies and a reasonably wide menu range. Big serves, good service and reasonable value. Never really feel comfortable sitting in there....memories of Raja's Noodlehouse.NOT EVERYONES CUP OF BINTANG.

DAYU ONE: [on Jl Sigasara near Kuta Beach Club] A regular for us every year for the last 10 years. A small local family-owned cafe. Good CHEAP and CHEAP. Mainly local menu with a few Western favourites.
Average mains cost 22 000RP...

BUBBA GUMP: Not bad, great for the older kids but lost on the little ones. Obviously seafood themed but pricey. Family of 4, 1200000RP.
Go if you enjoyed the movie, it's a giggle."WUN FOLLEST WUN...."

BREADTALK: [In Discovery,Kuta] Yeah, I know it's not a real resteraunt
but it feels like it.....pastry, cakes, croissants, flans, calouries and guilt.You edge your way around the selections slipping gluttonous sideways glances at other customers,OOOOH cream,frosting lashings of chockie...How evil is this place.....how good!!!!Absolutely nothing to do with Balinese culture or values.......BUT I DON'T CARE!!!

J CO. : Doughnuts & coffee : I DON'T CARE......I LOVE THIS PLACE. DOUGHNUTS ALL THE COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW.And so light. Not like the heavy Bakery version back home.I dare you to buy a box of 12 and not finish the lot.......

I have to sign off for now. I have the sudden urge to find a bakery.
Will add Day Trip postings in days to come...

Regards,

Paul {with sugar and strawberry jam on my lips...}
