Hi Diane, I have just got back and arrived the night of the executions. It was clear that a lot of people had cancelled as the plane was half full, there and back and the hotel had had many cancellations in the 2 weeks prior... I found that the security in Bali has been seriously increased. I had my bag checked numerous times upon entering restaurants and shopping centres and also had a metal detector run over me. Security people were even checking the undersides of cars and trucks entering the big centro shopping centre with mirrors and checking the drivers details. The amount of security checks leaving bali was almost overboard..the final pat down search tested me a bit...Bali is the same as ever, everything happens in Bali time and the mood is relaxed and friendly..I am sure your child will have a great time..I would be more worried about her discovering the famous "jam Jars"...
