the local warungs are often tucked away if you are in Kuta/Legian as the shop-front space is taken up with tourist restaurants and shops. The food is often pre-cooked and displayed in a glass case - bunkus (take-away) is served in brown paper cone, selection of rice, chicken, tempe, tofu, veges etc. Really yummy. I've never been sick eating at these places. Often costs around Rp5000 to Rp8000 depending on how many pieces you want. Bali Coffee around Rp2000. You can't get beer usually, but they might have cold soft-drinks.
Great idea taking it back to the air-cond room as these warungs can be hot.
