The disease can survive in frozen meat. BUT having survived, it can only infect other poultry, or affect humans if the meat is not cooked above 70 degrees celsius (which is well below what is needed to fry a chicken or boil an egg).

Bird flu has affected Bali, but only in the bird population. No human infections have been reported.

Many birds have been killed in Bali, which has affected the livelihoods of many Balinese/Indonesians in Bali.

Chicken meat is safe to eat, so long as it has been cooked above 70 degrees. If it hasn't, blood will pour out of it when you stick your fork in. You have NEVER eaten chicken cooked below 70 degrees. Unless you are really weird.

But precautions are worth taking. Even though the statistical likelihood of catching Bird Flu is about the same as being hit in the nuts by a falling satellite, you really don't want to catch it. It really stuffs people up. The only thing worse than catching Bird Flu would be getting hit in the nuts by a falling satellite.
