First time we went to Bali in 2004 the birdflu was in all the papers every day. We decided that it was better to be safe than sorry so avoided eating chicken in restaurants other than our hotel, as they had imported all chicken products.
We have just returned from Bali yet in April and are off again in 6 weeks(yippie!!!)and we feel that at this point there is no need to avoid chicken.
The points you made may be correct, BUT an agg is not properly cooked unless hard boiled, therefor a poached egg could still be contaminated, and many people prefer them poached. and in all honesty would you really notice that the chicken was a little pink inside if it had satay sauce all over it, and especially if you had a few bintangs in ya!
Not looking for a debate, just trying to state the facts that i have read on the World Health Organisation website.
If it did become rife in Bali ( which it has not) I would not be putting all my trust into the chef out in the back kitchen to cook my food to regulation.
Cheers
