Hati Hati!

Travelling to Bali ATM is not for the faint hearted.

A week ago my daughter, my SIL and grand daughter tried to fly to Bali with Garuda.

Before departure, the PCR results came through. My daughter and grand daughter had negative results, but my SIL tested positive.

My daughter and grand daughter then flew to Bali, leaving my SIL in isolation in Sydney. He has now booked a JQ flight at short notice, which cost $900 one way.

If my SIL gets a negative result from his second pre-departure PCR test, he will be able to rejoin his family, more than a week after his wife and daughter arrived in Bali.

Things are not going smoothly at MEL. According to the screens used by JQ ground staff, all passengers boarding for Bali have to show evidence of a booking at a CHSE hotel. This is no longer a requirement of the Indonesia government, but the JQ screens have not been updated.

Passengers without a booking at a CHSE hotel have been trying to use the poor WiFi at MEL to book this type of hotel, so they can board.

Meanwhile in Bali, the police are reminding hotels of their duty of registering with police, any foreigners staying there. This has always been a requirement in Indonesia. Now it is regarded as even more important, so health workers can round up all newly arrived foreigners who received a positive test from the PCR test taken at Bali Airport on arrival and put them in quarantine hotels.

My Bali trip is booked for July. I hope things go more smoothly for me, than for recent travelers to Bali.
