Yes, I have commented on this before and have been advised that these are just simple village folk trying to eke out a living.
They are not!
They are intimidating and manipulative and provide a most unwelcoming arrival into Bali, especially as you say to newer visitors.
The whole Taxi/porter/transport set up needs to be cleaned up at the airport in order to provide the sort of services available at other Asian destinations such as Thailand, where the process is so much more welcoming.
