which language - Bahasa, or Balinese?

I was just wondering which language to study before I go to Bali. I realize the natives speak Bahasa Indonesia, but do they speak it as a native language? Do the native Balinese people often speak Bahasa Indonesia among themselves?

And which language is more difficult to learn (if any of you have tried both)?
