Prices often vary depending on the types of orchids you are buying; some of the more common ones like Phalaenopsis hybrids (Moon Orchids?) are around Rp100,000 at Bali Orchid Garden but I have paid up to Rp300K for more unusual types. Dendrobium, Vanda and Oncidium which most people are familiar with, are also generally easy to find.
Considering there can be over 30 plants in a single flask that works out to less than Rp4,000 per plant or about 35c Australian, not too bad!
In an earlier post someone asked about what types to get; that will depend on where you live and what conditions you'll be growing your plants in. Obviously most of the orchids that are readily available in Bali are inherently tropical so if you're in Darwin or Townsville they will grow like weeds. That being said, Phals (Moon Orchids?) are from cooler areas and actually need a period of less than 22C to flower and even some 'hard core' tropicals will tolerate some cooler weather.
My vanda don't thrive but they survive over winter, my Grammatophyllum hate the cold and I lost a lot in the past few months.
I don't have any affiliation with the Orchid Garden but they are a good source and the owner can offer relevant advice about deflasking and what to get so you're not struggling in your specific area.
