Just wondering if anyone else was pulled aside at checkin for not having a padlock on their luggage. I was pulled aside last Saturday night in the que and told they were not going to let me checkin unless I had a padlock on both the bags I wished to checkin. The staff pointed out a shonky little room and told me to go to him and buy a padlock! I told them I had no Rupiah left and he said louder 'You need a padlock'! I started to fire up telling him that this was a scam and what was it to him if I was prepared to travel without a padlock on my bags. My wife was quite worried and scared about what they might do to me if I get more agro and louder so I went to this shonky little room and I was charged 50,000Rp ($5.25) for the smallest padlock you've ever seen! I only had 57,000Rp left, enough for a beer or two while waiting for my flight. I was furious to say the least! There goes my beers! I only bought 1 padlock and checked in both bags so I then knew it was totally a scam! Just wondering if this happened to anyone else... Won't put me off from going back though! I LOOOOVE BALI!!!
