Hi everyone,

I have been to Bali many times with other adults and have decided to go again this year, but bringing along my 10-year old niece (no other adults) in March for a week.

I'm not a parent so I've never had to think about what the best things in Bali are for a child (besides the obvious like Waterbom Park, etc.), and if there's things to consider (health/food-wise, etc.) that you wouldn't when going with other adults.

She's really into wildlife, so I'd love to show her some non-zoo wildlife experiences, like the monkeys (which is easy), but what about turtles in a natural setting (i.e. not the awful Turtle Island in Nusa Dua)? Is it possible? Any other good wildlife possibilities?

Besides going to Waterbom Park and maybe 1 or 2 other touristy things, I'd like most of her trip to be as different to what she'd see in Australia as possible (she lives on a farm in the outback), so I am thinking about organising a stay for a night or two with a local family.

I'm SO excited about this trip (though it will be completely different from my usual Bali experiences), and would be most grateful for any ideas from others who have taken an adventurous child to Bali.
