A lot or nothing can happen in 5 months time and future exchange rates are totally unpredictable.

Have you shopped around and checked out what exhange rated you will get here. If you are happy with it sure go and buy some IDR.

I agree with Hoolz to buy USD. It is a very smart and clever option to consider !

If the A$ is still up when you go in May take A$ with you. If the A$ is down, then take your USDs. Either way it is a safer win/win option.

If the A$ holds ground and continues to improve, you can always hang onto your USD and take on future holidays.
