Because I thought being that this is a Bali Travel Forum that others might be interested in my experiences. Many posts on the BTF in the past have asked about the comparions between Bali and Vietnam so that is what I was addressing. Similiarily others have asked about comparisions between Bali and Thailand...and have had feedback from other travellers.
You really can't compare the 2 countries. Even though they are close geographically, there are major differences. Vietnam is a very complicated country and feels like there will be alot of growth there. Trust me, we explored every nook and cranny that we could - from HCMC to Hanoi. I didn't get the same warmth from the Vietnamese people that I get from the Balinese or the Thais, but perhaps it was where I travelled to. The one area we missed was Sapa and I hope to see that in the future.
Sorry if you are offended by my comparisons but it was meant to show my experiences. I never said that Vietnam wasn't unique but for me, it wasn't my favorite place. Not to say that I won't return, but it won't be right away.
