Just back after 10 day - Air Asia / Wina - Kuta package, 2 adults 1 child.
Air Asia flight was very good we got 3 seats that we pre booked both there and back. Seats were OK and pre booked meals at $3.50 each were as good or better than other air lines.
Our problems began when we checked in at the Wina. Air Asia airlines seemed to work out that 3 people travelling required 3 seats but the hotel did not think we needed bedding for 3. We were expected to sleep 3 of us in 1 bed and after tirelesly arguing with the manager that did not budge or help our situation charged us an additional $200.00 australian to get the single bed put in our room. We ended up paying the money only because I wanted to get on with my holliday.
The hotel manager kept referring to our itinery that stated ( children to share bedding ) only problem is the itinary gets emailed after you have already booked and paid ( not transferrable / not refundable ) and is delivered in confirmation email.
Any how - will never do air asia package again, after the extra $200.00 it was no longer a good deal.
Wina Hotel was a good hotel with reasonable staff but the pools closed at 8pm the pool bar was never attended to. The average age was 70 plus mainly tourists from holland( lovely people like having hollidays with the grand parents ) with about 20% Japanese mostly young and arrogant. There was no more than about 20 Aussies / Kiwis in the hotel at any one time.
Breakfast was ordinary and always packed out and difficult to get a seat and table. Our room smelt like sewerage most of the time but the grandparents either side of us did not have the same problem. We couldn't change rooms as the hotel was fully booked and had to send some guests to the White Rose due to over booking.
Did all the usual stuff so no need to repeat most other posts.
And before I forget - NEVER EVER NEVER EVER be in Bali for Nyepi day.It is not 1 day. Everything started closing 2 PM the day before and we struggled to find somewhere to eat on Monday night. Obviously nothing open Nyepi Day and this would of been OK, but - the markets were closed all day Wednesday except for the overprice KUTA Beach night market, which kept most of the local shops and markets closed until mid Thursday. So so many restaurants also stayed closed until late friday after noon which limited the dining experience( Thank God for Warongs ).
Still even with some negative events with hotel wina and Nyepi day, another good holiday in bali, special thanks to agus at shop 43 kuta art market, ketuts and best lunch time burgers at OURS international restaurant on garlic lane. Going back July 2010 see you soon.
