the bed price was WAY OVER THE TOP, and the hotel DID take advantage a bad situation, but you won't find very many hotels in Bali with pools open after 8pm. As for Nyepi Day it ALWAYS starts the day before. The people have to get everything done in preparation for the day of silence the following day so I don't blame them for packing up shop and going home early. Nyepi Day is for the Balinese people not the tourists so you basically have to suck it up and get on with it or just don't go at that time of the year. I went, as someone else has said, to experience that time there but I will never do it again. But seriously it is a religious time for them and they need to do what that have to do to prepare.
