People often ask about doing volunteer work in Bali - and that's the crux or the problem - "work". From what I can gather you must not do ANY work in Bali - volunteer or otherwise - without a proper visa. For example, if you are an Aussie bricklayer, tiler etc & having a holiday home built for your family in Bali you cannot do any work on it yourself.

If you find a charitable organisation that will take care of the paperwork to allow you to help out, then fine. Otherwise you risk .. not sure .. probably a fine & your visa cancelled.
