Is there a difference for expatriates?

I am addressing this to Celuk Girl.

When I visit Bali and Lombok, I follow the practices echoed in the posts above. You made a comment about those who live there and are not tourists.

I am curious:

1. Will they come across to the citizens different in terms of their demeanor, bahasa fluency, clothing etc.?

2. Do the expatriates living there apply stricter standards for good service?

3. Do the expatriates look at things through the prism of living in Indonesia (e.g. being used to jam karet, deference to hierarchy and not expertise...)when it comes to tipping?
