Some foundations include other costs in the sponsorship monies.
EG Yayasan Anak Bali school sponsorships are made up of 1/3 school costs, 1/3 to family - not cash but a pig or rice etc, and 1/3 school renovation. Renovation might include books for the whole school, new roof, toilet maintenance. It's a very holistic approach to education.
Your post is very interesting for those people who want to help out many children, rather than one or two, but cannot afford individual sponsorship costs through a foundation.
