As Bogden said, we have been treated very well. Unlike previous posters we were not given food etc,, but a lovely room at the Hilton!!! BUT, they only helped us because our connecting flight was with Qantas. We saw them totally refuse any assistance at all to a family stranded with their next connection being with Vigin. I suspect the moral of the lesson is, if you choose to use Jetstar then only do so if your connecting flight is either with then or Qantas.
Now, I wonder where our suitcase is.... hope it's having a good time.
