Your card will be stopped by the bank if its used in Bali because you are an Australian resident not living in Bali.
When you travel overseas you have to inform the bank of where you are going overseas, that's the way they monitor your cards whilst your overseas.
Trust me my daughter is away and she wanted me to pay her bills over the internet out of her account and I have an authority on her account and I was told the minute I log in to her account to pay her bills all her cards will be cancelled leaving her with no card access in Amercia, they know she is not in the country and they told her she can do it in America herself, they refused to let me log on and do it. They told me that would be fraud, I opted to pay her bills with my money and she will pay me back. I know what I'm talking about here.
The only way around this would be to tell the bank you are going to Bali for a while, but then as soon as you use your other card in Australia they will realise you are here and you will get either a call or a letter from them saying someone is using your card.
Maybe there is something I have missed in your question, but I don't think I have.
Please correct me if I have.
I understand you trust your friend but the banks don't trust anyone and I am worried your friend could be charged with fraud if he uses your card. The bank will pursue him and the next time he goes to use the card it will be swallowed by the machine.
You do what you want but don't say you were not warned.
