I flew QANTAS to Melbourne last year and was stuck on the tarmac for 2.5 hours. They loaded us into the plane before telling us that the midnight horror which was scheduled to leave at 11:30 was going to be delayed. We took off at 2am. That was QANTAS. Of course, the pilot came on the speaker every few minutes to inform us that it was Perth baggage handlers and not QANTAS at fault.
My husband flew back from Melbourne on VIRGIN and was delayed in the airport for 1.5 hours.
My parents flew to Scotland via Heathrow two years ago on BRITISH AIRWAYS. Their flight was delayed three hours and they missed their connecting flight to Aberdeen which ended up costing them over $500 to get another one in the middle of the night (insurance sorted it out of course).
The 4 of us have had a 50% on time rate over the few flights we have had in the last couple of years. AA show a 79% on time rate for June. Interesting! Maybe if we compare on time rates to other airlines, you might find there is not much in it???
