Indonesian sensitivities, and what they may think about the way some tourists present themselves.
However, what about the other side of the coin, when predominately muslim Indonesians travel to Australia??
Many of our drivers, tour guides and just people generally are less than impressed with the full face burkha gear that these people choose to wear, in spite of the intimidating effect that this can have on us and our children.
I don't see a pair of $50 clean and new Crocs being any more offensive to some than the full cover muslim outfit.
Not for me personally when I travel, although I do wear open sandals at the risk of offending my hosts.
Perhaps overall demeanour is more important than whether ones toes are showing??!!
