Australian married to an Indonesian

I was wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge of what you do to change your name if you marry outside Australia. I have been told that our marriage certificate is not sufficient documentation to change my name with banks etc. I need documentation from Australia but all websites say that Australia recognises marriages overseas.

Any info would be helpful.
