Arrived in Bali on Sat night on Jetstar from Cairns via Darwin, lucky we have freinds in Darwin to kill the 5 hour stopover. From getting off the plane to getting in a taxi took all of about 15 minutes. Beaches are nowhere near as untidy as I expected and have been walking early each morning. Brekky at Lanai is just great for 40,000 each plus tax. Nothing better than sitting sipping your coffee and eating your meal with the waves crashing in the backgound. Sunday night had the buffet at Gateway of India on Dyna Pura (hope spelling is good) while the wife had a la carte, both meals were sensational. Staying at club Bali at the Jayakarta and have a great place for those who like a real local style Nasi Goreng. Out the gate turn right and about 50 meteres past the Rum Jungle road corner there is a corner store/Warung set below road level that is fantastic for local food. And they do take aways if you like. Nasi Goreng for 16000 and banana pancake with honey for 14000.
Had a dreaded visit to the dentist and tried Dr Rudy for the first time after seeing reccommendations on this forum. I am halfway through getting a 3 crown and bridge and a seperate crown done for 10million Rp. About $1300 AUD which is just a little less than the $7000 I was quoted by my dentist in Cairns to get it done there. Have to say after my first visit which was way less painful than I imagined, I am quite the fan of Dr Rudy.
Had tickets booked for the Safari park today but typical, it started raining in the early hours and was still going steadily around 8.00 am so have put it off till tomorrow.
Can't be here for 4 days and not do shopping, bought 3 paintings, 2 caved masks and a few small buddha type figurines in a craft stall in Kuta for around $75 for the lot. They will make a wonderful addition to our decor back home. Will add more at a later date as I feel a massage calling me. Oh, massage at Luna spa just down Jalan Padma about 200m to right from Jayakarta is excellent.
