My trip started in Bogor with a bus to Cianjur to see friends and see the kids at the small weekend English school I used to pay someone to run for me. Then a bus to Bandung to see a good friend then a train from Bandung to Yogjakarta and spent a week or so there hanging out with the locals, visiting Gunung Merapi at 2am when she was gently erupting- with the chance she would explode- exciting and frightening at the same time and visiting Parangtritis beach and the other beaches south on the back of a motor bike with a parking man I had met in the street who could speak English.
Then a train from Yogjakarta to Surabaya.
Yes, I am definitely Centre of Attention which I do not mind one bit and play on it and have so much fun with the Indonesian people.
I am a little crazy and they love it. I am always laughing when I am in Indonesia and mcuh happier than here in Oz.
Have you travelled Sumatra and Aceh? Two of my favourites.
In the village of Maura Labuh 4 hrs from Padang in West Sumatra I have had my very large nose patted by almost every one in the village. I hate my nose- but everyone in the village LOVES it.
