Yes, the scenery is magic and most of the people whom I have met away from the big cities have been nice.
I bet you were a bit of a sensation, a foreigner visiting the small village (kampung) !
I really love all the different spicy Indonesian Foods, another of my wifes Auntys lives in a small village called Kederi, driving to get there you pass buy sampoarna ? (maybe not correct name) one of indonesias biggest cigarette makers factories.....the aunty has a local cafe, and it is so well known for great traditional food, even celeberaties from JKT call in there and eat sometimes LOL !
We visited her home, and she cooked us a wonderful lunch, spicy char grilled fish and chicken etc......YUMMY !
My wife fooled me though, as when driving there we stopped at a small roadside foodstall vendor shop, and she bought some satay.
She says, "Do you like it?" and then she told me it was snails !
