bali baik ride

Hi all. After great reviews we have booked to go on this bike ride. On previous trips to Bali we have mainly just hung around the beach, pool and local shops, this will be our first venture out into villages and the countryside. A lot of forumites report giving little gifts to local children. I am not too sure about this but do not wish to be seen as rude if it is 'expected'. Any advice? Thanks, Yak
