Our flight is scheduled to arrive in Bali around 3pm 8/25 -- and we haven't booked any hotel yet. We are planning to head strait over to Ubud and check out some of the places that have been mentioned here.
1. I have heard that local hotel rates, if we just go to the place are less expensive than internet published rates. Is that correct? -- should we use the internet rate and a guideline and expect or negotiate a lower rate?
2. We are planning to stay for the most part at budget hotels (100-150,000 idr) -- should be be bringing our "silk sleep sheets" that we used for Thailand and India, or will they be unnecessary and just extra weight?
3. What is the cost and availability of internet in Ubud? Are there any budget places with wi-fi? Any nice hotels where we can buy a drink and use wifi in the lobby?
4. We plan to do a little trip to Yogya (Borubodur/Bromo) after about a week in Ubud. Can we book our flight to DPS to Yogya in Ubud, or do we have to get to Kuta or Denpasar to get the best rate?
5.Is there a travel agent in Ubud that you can recommend? Is getting "acclimated" to Indonesia for a week in Ubud a good idea, or should we stay overnight near the airport and hope to book something for the next day to Yogya?
