nights accommodation at least as August and September are very busy months in Bali. As Ubud is a bit over an hour from the airport you won't be arriving there till approx 5pm and with a 2 year old I wouldn't want to then start having to look for a hotel. From experience, I would say that walk in rates in high season are not necessarily cheaper than internet rates. If tou can find a good cheap hotel that has been recommended on here, with availability I would be booking it.
