Just sent 109 kilograms of freight to Bali (0.84 cubic metres) for $300 which is so much better than over $1000 that we paid last time as excess luggage. We used Apollo Forwarders, just around the corner from us in Underdale, and found Megan there very helpful (even more so after the bribe of a toy football was paid - don't even mention corruption in Bali - lol).
The 15 cartons contain the remaining toiletry bags from a couple of years ago, the remaining pillow cases from last year, dozens and dozens of children's soft toys (one bag to Helen's friend and now ours too, Dr Ari, for all the kids he treats in the hill villages and his help with little Kadek whom we took the modified wheelchair over for last trip.
There are also quite a few white and blue jackets and pants of the sort that seniors in schools now frequently get as a special uniform in their final years. These are all from our friend Janelle in Willunga.
Damn, why do I always get wet eyes when I write about this sort of thing? I will never believe that generosity and compassion are not alive and well in today's world.
We also have 4 laptop computers which we have bought or been given (thanks Barry and family) for special kids. These will go with us in our luggage.
Special advice to the Bintang Supermarket and Makro's - stock up on Chupa Chups; we're on our way in 2 weeks. Also to the Supernova Stores; we'll be in for classroom wall charts of the world, Indonesia and Australia.
And to Grammedia; we need more subscriptions to the Indo local edition on National Geographic.
ROLL ON 2 WEEKS - CAN't WAIT!
