I was always under the impression that you were covered for mechanical damage and third party insurance etc under your travel insurance policy if you had the (motorbike lic) international licience and Bike insurance from the renter however I was wrong.
I inquired today just to check and was informed from travelinsurancedirect that
We will not pay for you or a member of the Travelling Party who rides a motor cycle (except as a pillion passenger) without a licence that is valid in the relevant country.
You need to confirm with the appropriate country/embassy that the licence you hold is valid and accepted in the country you are travelling to. If it isn't, then there is no coverage under the policy agreement.
We will not pay for a liability arising out of your ownership, possession or use (including as a passenger) of a mechanically propelled vehicle. We will not pay any liability or cover any damage to the vehicle/bike itself or anyone elses property due to
you driving/riding a mechanically propelled vehicle. A mechanically propelled vehicle is anything that uses a motor/engine to run it.

This same line was repeated from other insurances as well.

If anyone knows a good policy please let me know
