Bangkok may just about be an exception to what I said.

In Bangkok, I have stayed at 1)Baiyokke (US$ 50). Right next to Pratunam...excellent for shopping, etc. Also stayed at 2) Amari Atrium (US$ 60). Good hotel with good facilities. Also stayed at 3)Pathuman Princess (US$ 95). This is in the MBK Shopping Centre. Best of the 3. But, all 3 hotels were great.

In Bali, I stayed at The Karthika Discovery Plaza (US$77). Here, I had problems with the shower, with the lift. Room was not cleaned well enough. But, still not bad at all, everything considered.

Now, Sue, the hotels in other parts of Thailand were really cheap. The Hilton at Hua Hin, the Holiday Inn at Phuket, the Imperial Mae Ping at Chiang Mai were outstanding for the price paid. All in the range of US$ 50/75 with superb creature comforts :-)

I have stayed in a lot of other places in Thailand, but what I have just mentioned should suffice. All prices quoted were inclusive of buffet breakfast and taxes.

One last thing, all my visits have been from 2004 onwards, with my last trip to Thailand in 2006.

Cheers !!
Carlos.
