Not sure about how bad the infection is but i can tell you with a general amputation if it is fairly clean at the site that the healing is remarkably quick. I actually looked after a pt during the week and in approx a week he was ready to start rehab using criutches or a frame and the wound looked great so fingers crossed for your friend as well... Hope all goes well..
