How frustrating!! This is the second day in a row that I am over half way through writting next chapter of our JBR & the power goes off. Bl***y TXU has made my over due JBR more overdue. Sorry 'bout that.
Back in Sanur after a couple of days up north.
As beautiful as it was in the north of the Island, we really feel at home in Sanur.
Loving Bali as much as we do, we have talked many times of posssibly building a Villa in Bali. Last year we spent many days looking at Villa developments and plans etc. We even found a fantastic piece of land. Being given the price, the Mrs. gets out the calculator to convert into Au. dollars. We can do this she said. We run around to the Aust. Embassy to get our facts right, on how to go about it all & do it right. We even go to the Notary (lawyer) to have the contract drawn up. That night, Mrs. is doing the summs over again, Oh Sh** comes the cry, there are not enough 0's on this calculator. With that extra 0 it threw our plans right out the window. What fools we felt. But you should try converting hundres of millions, see how you go. You will need more than 8 digits on the calculator.
This year, the idea of land is far in the back of our mind.
Until, our dear friend Shrek (after hearing of our disappointment last year) keeping his ear to the ground, came to tell us of 2 lots land he has found for us. Not getting overly excited after last years episode, we looked at both lots. One was right out of our league price wise.
Shrek was hoping we could get that one as it was next to his house.
Onto the next one. What a Gem this was. Not much to look at, but we looked at what was going on all around it. Right, smack, bang, in the middle of 2 big luxury Villa developements. Just off the main street & 2 minutes walk to the beach.
As the saying goes "Location, Location, Location".
We had done our homework well. Asking price was higher than price paid by the developers, but we thought it a fair price.
Big discussions for the next couple of days, negotiating terms with the owner.
To the bank we go to withdraw the deposit from our account back home. Word of warning, if you go to a bank to deal with a teller. Leave approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do the transaction. Make sure you have your passport with you. Enter the bank, take a number, take a seat & wait your turn. The Mrs. thinks, this is service, being seated while waiting, not even dawning on her that you are seated cause the wait is soooooo loooong.
The deposit took 2 visits to the bank, drawing out the max. allowed. Trip 2, she took a book.
Within a week we had the paperwork signed, so we are on the way to the dream coming true. Watch for update late June 07, after our next trip.
