With all the announced changes to the Garuda flights on the Perth - Denpasar route perhaps those wanting an alternative to getting there from Perth should consider Skywest. Skywest in conjunction with Island Bound Holidays operate a weekly "closed charter" flight to Bali. Until Christmas they are offering 7 nights in Bali (Matahari) for A$599.00. (This will be revisited after the Chrissy period). Skywest fly Fokker F100 twin jets with a 97 seat capacity and a one class 34 inch seat pitch, the largest seat pitch on any Australian airline. The flights depart Perth at 7.40am every Saturday for Bali via Broome and Port Hedland. Flight times are :- depart Perth 7.40am, Arrive Broome 10.10am. Depart Broome 10.40am. Arrive Port Hedland 11.30am. Depart Port Hedland 12.30pm and arrive Bali 2.40pm. The flight returns to Perth via Port Hedland and Broome Saturday afternoon. Flight times are :- Deaprt Bali 3.40pm. Arrive Port Hedland at 5.50pm. Depart Port Hedland 6.50pm. Arrive Broome 7.40pm. Depart Broome 9.25pm and arrives Perth at11.55pm as a domestic flight. It is a roundabout way of getting to Bali but the actual flight times are less than going through Jakarta. All customs and immigration clearances are conducted at Port Hedland so both out bound to Port Hedland and inbound from Port Hedland are domestic flights, so when you arrive back in Perth, although a little late at night you only have to collect you luggage and go. As previously stated, this is an alternative for Perth Baliholics like us Port Hedland mob and offers another choice.
