just spoke to someone at Jetstar as we were thinking about changing our sale flights and staying an extra week. Turns out there's $150 difference for changing flights for the 3 of us as opposed to buying new flights back. We'll probably just keep the flights as they stand at present. I decided to quiz the consultant about what would happen if flight from Melb to Sydney was delayed and we missed the connection. Nearly had a bleedin' heart attack as she said that sale fare passengers would have no other option than to buy another flight on the next available plane and that I should've read the terms and conditions, but it's highly unlikely that anything will happen anyway and she looks at the positive side of things....
I asked if travel insurance would cover this and she said it would. I then explained that even though we got a sale fare I thought it was unfair that we'd be stranded etc if the connecting flight was late and that I'd heard from my friends who had been told they'd be checked in through customs in Melbourne, their bags would go straight through to the Bali flight and they'd hold the flight for connecting passengers. She then tried to upgrade us to Flexi fares at a cost of $1500 each way and said we'd be guaranteed a flight on the next available flight if we missed our connection on this fare type.
I think she coud tell that I was starting to panic LOL! I said I was a pretty positive person, but I'd paid for accommodation already, that I would have child with me and would've organised holidays from work and couldn't bear the thought of having to pay for another fare whilst waiting for the travel insurance claim to come through blah blah...
She told me to hang on, that she'd check with her team leader...I waited with baited breath, my heart pumping. She got back to me and apologised and said her team leader said we wouldn't lose sale fare, that we'd be put on the next available flight! Phew, sigh of relief LOL.
I know, I know, I should've read those terms and conditions, but I was so darned excited when those specials came out that I didn't check things out thoroughly. I already have travel insurance thank goodness.
Hoping and praying the weather etc is good on Jun 15th next year! Wasn't too worried about our flights in Feb as we have hours and hours at Sydney airport to make the connection.
