something someone told us. When we were in a DVD shop last month, we met a fellow BTF poster who was up there for two days to bring her mother back who had broken her ankle in Bali. Although she had travel insurance, she had to pay $3000 up front before treatment would begin. The mother had not brought her credit card but luckily was travelling in a group. The group scraped together the money. I asked her to post the story on this site. I've never claimed on my travel insurance for medical reasons but I naively would have assumed that I would ring the phone number given and the okay would be given to start treatment. THis may not be true for all insurers but it would be good to know the response time for insurnace help. It would be scary to travel without a credit card and for an accident to occur towards the end of the trip.
