was.
I sure didn't have that problem.
Rang Southern Cross, answered their questions and was rung back by an SOS affiliated doctor in Auckland who gave me a choice of SOS or BIMC.
He was very reassuring saying that I didn't have to worry as my health was now in their hands, and they were not going to let anything bad happen to me.
Went to BIMC every morning for an ECG, blood pressure test etc and they would ring every evening to see how I was.
The doctor in Auckland also rang every day.
Once everyone was happy that things were stable Dr Andrew flew down from Jakarta, and we then flew to Christchurch with oxygen and monitors stuck all over me which kept him up to date with all the vital signs.
Felt a bit of an idiot but was for the best. Andrew signed off when he delivered me to Christchurch Hospital A and E Dept some 16 hours later.
The only time I put my hand in my pocket was when I had the first ECG in Denpasar and saw the Balinese Cardiologist, who, incidentally, wasn't worth a pinch of sh*t.
If I had taken his advice I would have remained in Bali until the end of the year.
My surgeon told me that after the operation that I would have undoubtedly died during that time so be warned.
The local guys are not up to speed.
Once I got into the hands of Southern Cross/SOS didn't pay a cent.
I don't work for either organisation but have nothing but praise for the way things were handled.
